Privacy Policy — Coast Hosting
Legal note for Coast Hosting: This is a plain-language draft, not legal advice. Because it covers payment/bank details and overseas guests, have it reviewed by a lawyer or checked against the OAIC’s privacy policy guidance before it goes live.
Coast Hosting (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates coasthosting.au, where guests can search for and book short-term holiday accommodation on the Central Coast, NSW (the “Service”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.
Providing your information is your choice, and we thank you for it. You’re not legally required to give it to us, but we do need it to take your booking and provide the Service. Coast Hosting is responsible for the information you provide through the Service.
What we collect
When you make an enquiry, book accommodation, or contact us, we may collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number and postal address
- Payment card details when you pay for a booking — these are collected and processed securely on our behalf by our payment provider, not stored by us
- Bank account details, only where needed (for example, to process a refund or for property owners)
- Your IP address and technical information about your device and browser
- Information collected automatically through cookies (see the Cookies section below)
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Process your booking and manage your stay
- Communicate with you about your reservation and respond to your requests
- Keep the Service secure and investigate suspicious or fraudulent activity
- Improve and maintain our website and fix technical issues
- Send you marketing communications, where you’ve agreed to receive them (you can opt out at any time)
- Meet our legal obligations and assist authorities where the law requires
We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers — such as our payment processor and booking system — only as needed to deliver the Service. We do not sell your personal information.
Your privacy rights
You can ask us to:
- Provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that’s inaccurate or out of date
- Delete your information when we no longer need it
- Stop sending you marketing (use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email)
To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below. Note that even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send essential messages like booking confirmations and account notices.
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Cookies
We use cookies — small files stored by your browser — to make the website work properly, keep you logged in, understand how visitors use the site, and support our marketing. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do. You can opt out of advertising cookies at optout.aboutads.info.
Guests outside Australia
If you’re in the European Union or UK, we handle your data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal bases for processing are your consent, the performance of your booking contract, and our legitimate business interests (where these don’t override your privacy).
If you’re a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell your personal information, though we do allow ad networks such as Google and Facebook to collect activity on our site.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above — including to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations — and then securely delete it.
Children
The Service is intended for people aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website, and continued use of the Service means you accept the current policy.
